The main purposes of this Act are to (a) re-enact with amendments the law relating to the University named Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, by rationalising obsolete and disparate legislation; and (b) to provide for a new Act reflecting best practice and a consistent approach to governance and reporting for universities in Victoria.
