Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The School of Graduate Research has undertaken a comprehensive review of the Higher Degree by Research Policy suite over the course of 2021. The policy suite has been uplifted to align with the University Policy Governance Framework. The policy is now more principles-based and the procedures are more streamlined. This required the removal of detailed and duplicated processes. There is also greater alignment with and references to relevant RMIT policies, procedures, and legislative requirements. The Action and Support Procedure has been combined with the Progress Management Procedure to create the HDR Progress Management and Support Procedure. The requirement to maintain appropriate ethics and institutional biosafety approvals has been added to second and third milestone requirements to align with the RMIT Research Policy and Australian Code for Responsible Research 2018. Research data management plans and publication plans have also been included in milestone submission requirements.
