1. Inclusion of a clause about cancellation due to unresponsive candidates Any unexplained absence of an HDR candidate is likely to impair the student's academic progress, therefore the HDR ‘at risk’ process may need to be initiated in parallel with investigations into the student's welfare. In situations where the candidate has abandoned their candidature and has not communicated with their supervisors, it is preferable to cancel their enrolment to conserve candidature. A statement has been included to assist in cancelling a candidate’s enrolment after reasonable attempts by the University. 2. Removal of obsolete information about "Study Away" processes Processes listed in the procedure regarding “study away” were not feasible due to the configuration of SAMS. Currently there is a lack of functionality to implement a “Study Away Form” and SGR have no way of ensuring candidates provide information about their location when they undertake self-funded travel. SGR will encourage candidates to regularly update their contact details to ensure their study location is correct and all RMIT funded travel can be identified in Trobexis. 3. Updated terminology of HDR Administrators Due to the restructure within the School of Graduate Research, job titles and reporting processes were updated. To maintain consistency with positions and reporting lines, references to HDR Administrators throughout the procedure have been updated to the Research Training Services team in SGR.
